Taxis are readily available in Colombo and can be identified by their yellow tops. Make sure you agree the fare with your driver before you start your journey. You can also hire a car from one of many international car hire agencies in Sri Lanka. You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving license to hire a car. Due to heavy traffic conditions and erratic driving in some of the most popular parts of the country, it is generally best to hire a car with a driver.
