Discover Gassim
Sweeping deserts and horizons make up most of Gassim, the agricultural heartland of Saudi Arabia. Trek on camelback across mighty sand dunes, date palms and small towns scattered through the region, or head to the provincial capital, Buraidah, to visit the most chaotic camel market in the world. For a taste of the region’s history, swing by the dusty desert city of Al Dir’iyah, where you can learn about the lives of 18th-century Saudi Royalty. It’s also the perfect place to satiate your sweet tooth - Gassim’s local fare ranges from juicy pomegranate jelly to cinnamon date cake that just melts in the mouth.
