There are several ways to get to Mashhad International Airport (MHD), where your journey to Bahrain will begin. The airport, also known as Shahid Hashemi Nejad, is located 15 minutes away from the city. You can travel there by taxi or bus or if you would rather drive, outdoor parking is available.

Head straight for departures when you arrive and a member of staff will be waiting to help you through check-in. Next is security and once you’ve ticked that off then you can take advantage of the duty free shopping.

Once you’ve boarded the plane, the first half of the journey will take 2 hours and 25 minutes. After a short stopover in Dubai International Airport (DXB) it’s back on the plane for an hour and 15 minutes. Once you’ve landed it’s only 6km from Bahrain International Airport (BAH) to the capital, Manama. There are plenty of taxis available or you can hire a car.

Discover Bahrain

Surrounded by the glistening Arabian Gulf and connected to Saudi Arabia by the King Fahd Causeway, Bahrain has a rich history that today intertwines with its modern ambition. Visit the grand Al Fateh Mosque, not only one of the largest places of worship in the country but one of the biggest mosques on the planet. Look up at the roof before you enter and you’ll see the largest fiberglass dome in the world. On the opposite side of the capital, Manama, you’ll find Bahrain Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site which overlooks the northern coast and dates back to 2,800 BC. This looks particularly spectacular when lit up after the sun has gone down.
