The magnificent statue of Catherine the Great pays homage to the founder of the city. You’ll find it looming over one of the green spaces at the southern end of Krasnaya street, one of Krasnodar’s busiest streets. Further along this stretch, you’ll find a curious statue depicting two smartly-dressed dogs. The iconic monument highlights the city’s love of canines and it’s said that if you rub the dogs’ noses, you’ll be lucky in love.
Celebrate regional art and history
Spend an afternoon admiring works in the Kovalenko Art Museum. On the approach to the building, you’ll be struck by the grandeur of the white and blue architecture, with its stylish structure and design. Head inside and allow the elegance to wash over you. Wander through its many exhibits and discover a wide collection celebrating ancient, international and regional art from famous Russian artists throughout history.
Felitsyn Museum is also well worth a trip. Meander between archaeological artefacts spanning the Cossack era and the Russian Civil War. Spot signet rings, ancient manuscripts and ceramic vessels among the collection.
Unwind in the green parks
Krasnodar is a city that embraces a leisurely way of life, which can be best experienced through its green spaces. Floral gardens, dog walking hotspots and family recreational zones are spread throughout the city, adding a swathe of green to the glorious cityscape.
