Enjoy delicious local cuisine

No trip to this city would be complete without sampling the local flavours. Any traditional restaurant in Yerevan will serve you a range of delicious Armenian dishes. Currency

While in Yerevan, the currency you’ll use is the Armenian Dram (AMD). Frequently used notes include: 500, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000.

Language

Although the national language, Armenian, is widely spoken in Yerevan, other secondary languages, such as English, Greek and Russian, are spoken too.

Weather

The weather in Yerevan varies depending on the time of year you’re visiting. Expect highs of up to 37ºC between July and September and lows of -4ºC between January and March.

Getting around

In Yerevan, transport is easy to come by. You can get around on the Yerevan metro, use the buses or hop on a tram. There’s also a wide network of minibuses or ‘marshrutkas’ to take advantage of. If you’d prefer a taxi, Yerevan has a range of companies to choose from at reasonable prices. Alternatively, head further afield and start exploring Armenia when you hire a car.

Airport information

When you fly to Yerevan, you’ll arrive and depart from Zvartnots International Airport (EVN). Just 15 minutes away from the city, it won’t take you long to head into Yerevan.
