Think of Russia and the lavish onion domes of St Basil’s, Moscow’s famed cathedral, may spring to mind. Punctuating the city skyline in a rainbow of colors, the iconic Russian orthodox church is beautiful both inside and out. Just next door you can witness the seat of Russian power at The Kremlin. Dating back to 1156, the walled complex of ancient churches, palaces and government buildings is astounding. See an incredible collection of European masterpieces at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, one of the best museums in Moscow. Pieces range from the Italian Renaissance to the Dutch Golden Age, the star of the show being Rembrandts ‘Portrait of an Old Woman’. Art, food and crafts festivals are aplenty in Hermitage Gardens, the next location on your itinerary. Stroll around the charming park and mingle with the locals to really feel the city’s soul.
