Visa

Before you begin your journey to Kabul, check with your embassy first to see what documentation you need to enter Afghanistan.

Currency

You’ll use Afghanistan’s national currency while in the country – the Afghan Afghani (AFN). Frequently used notes include: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1,000.

Language

Pashto and Dari are the official languages in Afghanistan and are widely spoken in Kabul.

Weather

Expect seasonal weather throughout the year in Kabul. Temperatures drop to around -2°C in January and March and warm up to 33°C during July and September.

Getting around

You can catch a taxi in Kabul with ease. They are usually yellow in colour and we recommend agreeing a fare with the driver before your journey. If you’d prefer a more private service, hire a car and explore further afield.

Airport information

When you fly in and out of Kabul you will use the Khwaja Rawash International Airport (KBL). The airport sits just 1km from city, making it accessible.
